Today, McKinley Elementary School "Home of the Mariners" Captains visited Edinboro University of Pennsylvania for their end of year retreat.
Edinboro University ROTC, under the direction of U.S. Army Lt. Col. Krug, put together a morning full of activities. Cadre and cadets from the battalion put together various team building activities, which allowed the Captains to build their team and leadership skills. As you can see from the photos...they had a blast!
The McKinley Captains are fourth and fifth grade students that demonstrate respectful, responsible, safe and prepared behavior and were nominated as leaders by their teachers. Today, they got to take those skills to the next level.
After the morning activities and award ceremony, the students enjoyed lunch in the campus cafeteria--they loved it!
As McKinley's lead partner under the Community School Model, we cannot thank Edinboro University, their ROTC staff, Edinboro's Education Department, Erie's Public Schools, McKinley staff and anyone else that made today possible enough. These students are our future leaders and will remember this day for a lifetime!
