To kick off the day, students rotated through a variety of activities to work together and problem solve. They played bingo, went on a scavenger hunt around the park, and went out on the baseball field to play a number of teamwork-building field games—tug of war, relay races, hula hoop chain relays and more.
Students then attended a speaker session where they heard motivational speeches from community leaders, including:
- Brother Roscoe Carroll, assistant executive director of the Erie Blue Coats
- Beth Hirz, Erie County district attorney
- Brian Arrington, owner of TKO-Erie Karate and Martial Arts School and retired PA state trooper
- Kyra Taylor, founder and executive director of Erie’s Black Wall Street
Students, community school directors and teachers alike all had a great time and learned a lot. We look forward to growing this event in years to come and continuing to support our community’s future leaders!
